On February, 06th 2016. We as Student of Diploma-3 Logistics and
Materials Management were has a Company Visit to PT.KCN, Marunda, North Jakarta. In there we saw some Logistics
Activities specially in Loading-Unloading activity. As we
know PT.KCN is a Port that provided the Loading and Unloading Activity
Services.
PT.KCN
were has some Commodity that usually served is like Coal, Sand, CPO, etc. The
Commodities came from the other Regions in Indonesia (impor dalam Negeri). PT. Karya Nusantara Citra is a Joint Venture between
PT. Nusantara Bonded Zone (KBN) and PT. Karya Teknik Utama. Primary business
PT. KCN is as inter-island port management (inter) in Marunda.
The company
provides several services such as:
a. providers
dock
b. Providing
land buildup
c. Unloading
and loading
d. weigher
e. Tracking
In there i saw the
process of Coal’s Unloading from the Barge (Tongkang) to the Trucks.The Process were started from the Barge which
would be moved closer to the Port and called the Tug Boat to helped the Barge
to Docked into the Port. After the Barge have to be docked, the Excavators will be Going Up onto the
Barge and the Excavators have to moved the Coals from the Barge into the
Trucks. After the Truck have fulled by the Coals, the truck will be moved to
the Truck Scale to be weighed. For
got the net weight we should weighed the empty truck to know how much the
weight of the truck (just the truck) and record it. The truck that fulled by
the Coals should be weighed too and recorded it of course. After we recorded
the weight of the both, we just need to reduces between the fulled truck weight
with the empty truck weight and we will get the net weight. After that the
other Truck will be processed the same way trough till the Barge empty from the
Coals and the trucks will be delivered it t the customers.
The Definition Of Jetty, Barge and Tug Boat
JETTY
Jetty is a specially
designed building on a port that is used for tethered or a shipping / docked to
the loading and unloading of goods and passengers. Not just as a place to do a
spot of loading and unloading of goods or passengers, but the jetty is also
used as a place to conduct refueling vessels, clean water, drinking water or
dirty channel.
Provision of
the pier at PT. KCN for berthing / docking ship so they can perform advanced
services such as mooring, loading or waiting for other services (docking,
processing of documents and others).
BARGE
Barge or
pontoon is a type of vessel with a flat stomach or a big box that floats, used
for transporting goods and towed by tugs or are used to accommodate the ebb and
flow like the floating dock.
tonkang itself
does not have a propulsion system (propulsion) such vessels in general. Making
the barge is also different because the construction only, without a system
like ships in general. Barge itself is commonly used to transport bulk cargo in
bulk such as wood, coal, sand and others.
TUGBOAT
Tugs / tug boat
is a vessel that can be used to maneuver / movement, the main pull or push
other ships in the harbor or the high seas. Similarly tugboat used to pull
barges, broken, and other equipment.
Tugboat has
high maneuverability, depending on the drive unit. Delay ships with
conventional propulsion has a propeller at the rear, efficient to pull the boat
from the port to other ports. Other movers type often called Schottel
propulsion system (azimuth thruster / Z-Peller) in which the propeller under
the ship can move 360 ° or Voith-Schneider propulsion system that uses such a
knife under the ship to make the vessel rotates 360 °
